Race 1: Qualified 5th with a lap time of 1:33:607 The weather on Saturday was miserable. It was cold, 10 degrees, and the wind was blowing straight down the back straight, making it tough to get full speed up the straight. We were also dealing with a throttle that was not opening fully. We would cruise up to the back of the leading pack only to get lost up the back straight. This was very frustrating as the car was handling perfect and if we could get into position we could have been battling for the lead. In the end the race was very un-eventful and we stayed comfortably in 4th spot for pretty much the entire race. Race 2: Qualified 2nd with a lap time of 1:31:881 What a difference 24 hours makes!!! The weather was great for the second race of the Ontario 1600 Championship. The skies cleared up, the wind died down, and the temperatures warmed up. We qualified in second beside Jim Hallman in his brilliant yellow 1998 Van Diemen. Jim Captured pole with a monster lap of 1:30:894. The race started out in fine fashion. We drag raced Jim into corner one and neither of us let off, so we went through 2 WIDE!!!!!. This was the start of an epic battle between us, Jim Hallman, and the eventual winner of the race Brian Nielsen. The race was a three car freight train. We were pretty much nose to tail for the entire race except for a couple of position changes, one of which was when we snuck on the inside of Jim Hallman in Turn 5B to move up a spot. In the chase we managed to set our fastest time ever at Mosport with a lap time of 1:30:656. In the end after a hard fought chase we finished in second just .912 of a second behind the leader. With the car handling this well we can't wait to get to the next race, and if the trend keeps up of cutting our previous result in 1/2 then the next step can only be.........
